In Guns We Trust?

Progressive 08“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Why do guns seem to be connected to Christianity? And why are people with guns so afraid of having them taken away? Faith in God and faith in one’s weapon seem antithetical to me. Gun ownership is one thing, but this fear—this obsession—is not holy.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“So do not fear,  for I am with you;  do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you  with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13

Nowhere in the Bible can I find a verse that says to trust in our weapons.
